So how do we fix this economy?, I always believed to fix a problem, you have to think back to see how the problem started.    In this case, it started nine years ago in the year 2000, thats when housing prices began to jump in increments of $50,000 to $75,000 per year, in Massachusetts alone, home values went from $113,000 in the year 1998 to $350,000+  in the year 2004.

Now we all know the working middle class is what keeps this country and the economy going, lets face it, the working poor (makes less than $40,000/yr) can’t afford to buy a house and the rich (makes more than $175,000/yr) don’t really need banks because they can just about pay cash for their homes,     every one else in between are in the middle to upper middle class.

At around 1999, the banks and mortgage companies came up with what I call a scam, the idea was to keep lowering the mortgage rates in hopes that we would buy at any price, well we americans fell for this scam hook,line and sinker, the more the mortgage rates dropped, the higher housing prices rose and we kept buying houses that were over priced because we were brain washed in to thinking that the only thing that mattered was a low mortgage interest rate.   Well, the banks got greedy and started giving $200,000 to $300,000 mortgages to people that could not afford to buy a  pair of Reebok sneakers, at that point, people started missing payments, then came the foreclosures and things began to fall apart.

Well, thats how we got in to this mess, now lets jump ahead to “2009″.    It seems like our government is doing and trying every thing to get this economy going, but nothing seems to work, it kind of reminds me of that childrens nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty where Humpty Dumpty is the economy and all the kings horses and men who are Henry Paulson and his staff could not put Humpty(the economy) back together again.

Now the best way to get the economy going is for alot more people to buy alot more houses, but alot of people are refusing to buy a home right  now because houses are still just too expensive, so that means real estate prices still need to come down some more, now people may say that real estate prices must go up for the economy to be good, and yes that is true, but like I said earlier, real estate prices got to high to fast, so we have to accept that the real estate cycle has to start over again where home prices will be low, but will go back up again, and hopfully we will learn from our past and never again allow ourselves to get caught up in a buying frinzzy and buy property that is way over priced.

 Now this small article was just my two cents about how to fix this economy. You may or may not agree with me, but like I said in the beginning of this post, this is just my opinion.
